Any human pain, suffering whether it's mental, emotional, physical or spiritual, must be felt, must be addressed, I have found, in order to alleviate it. One must go through one's difficulties in order to get past them, to learn from them, never to be repeated again. You cannot ignore your difficult thoughts, feelings, physical pains or spiritual growing pains and expect that they will somehow magically disappear of their own accord. When you stuff down any difficulty, that's called suppression or repression and suppressing or repressing does not make pains go away as they will eventually manifest in your reality in a much worse condition than when they first appeared.
In order to heal any wound, whether Psychic or not, you have to feel it, you have to confront it within yourself. Sometimes, you may need the intervention and assistance of outside help like a Shaman, spiritual advisor, doctor, psychiatrist, therapist, priest, rabbi or imam. I have found these helpers to be of enormous benefit because the right one will tell you like it is, reveal deeper meanings and help you to overcome your angst.
Stuffing down psychic pain is not the answer. If you want to heal yourself, you have to face the cause not the effect. You can't drug it away. You can't wish it away. It has come to you for a reason and you must discover the reason and claim your shadow. Once you claim your demons, you can work through them and eventually laugh at your demons.
Sometimes we need outside help, so don't be afraid to ask for it. Help is always available. The most important thing is facing your shadow Self. In facing your shadow Self, you open that musty box of dilemmas to the freshness of the light of day.
Turning the light on your shadow Self brings you ultimate illumination and therefore, forward motion.
There is no need to stay stuck in your pain.
