I love making mistakes because they give me an opportunity to learn more about myself as well as the practice of correcting my mistakes. For me, a mistake is not negative although I attempt to avoid them.
What I practice doing when I make a mistake is set aside my false pride and defensiveness and acknowledge my mistake. I don't try to hide them, deny them or fear them. I immediately admit them and don't, however, languish in remorse or play the game of paralyzing myself with righteous self-defense.
I simply apologize, forgive, make amends and then move on, forget it because my karma is complete. Why is my karma complete? It is complete because I learned from my mistake. I accepted that I made a mistake and see it as a learning not as a punishment. From the mistake, I am more aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I don't stay mad at myself or anyone else. The mistake is cleared and I resolve to learn from it and not to repeat it.
