Many, I have discovered, are confused about what Spiritual success is. So, we must ask the question: what really defines Spiritual success? In my humble experience, Spiritual success is not defined by Spiritual accoutrements, that is, whether you wear a monk's robe or a nun's habit, whether you wear a Cross or Star of David or Mala beads around your neck. It is not sitting in prayer and meditation all day. It is important to remember that hands that heal are greater than lips that pray and this gets to the heart of what Spiritual success is: being connected with and seeing the Creative Source Infinite Intelligence in everyone and everything. This is Spirit's country. When you have finally come to see that you and Spirit are one, you have come to Spiritual success.
When you see God in everyone and everything, you behave with loving detachment, unconditional love, compassion, charity, tolerance, peace, kindness and you give this to everyone and everything. You become mindful instead of mindless. You recognize that being Spiritual is enjoying the little things of life and being yourself in that it's OK to let out your shadow side. Even this is Spiritual but it does not mean acting maliciously for your own selfish ends.
Spiritual success is knowing that you are always with Spirit no matter if you feel abandoned. Feeling abandoned is the ego/persona/psyche exhibiting its natural doubt, its hesitation.
All of life is alive with Spirit. When you recognize that, are with that, believe that, know that, live that, you have succeeded Spiritually. It will then guide you, it will talk with you, it will come to you.
You don't have to travel to the ends of the Earth to find this. It is with you right where you are.
When you look in the mirror at your face, remember, you are seeing the face of God.
