In astrology, the twelve signs fall into three modalities, that is, they are codified by how they operate and express themselves through persona/psyche/ego. They can be called the three families.
Here are the three distinct modalities or families of the astrological signs:
1. Cardinal family-they are the head of the sign and mark the natural leaders of Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn. In Cancer, for example, the metaphor for this sign's watery nature is a river. It naturally flows, moves.
2. Fixed family-Taurus, Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius. For example, when we look at the water sign of Scorpio, the metaphor for it's watery nature is a well. The water goes deep in a well and we can draw from it but it's fixed in one place and in order to be truly happy, the Scorpio persona must allow flow that it can find if it looks for it in the moving underground springs beneath the well.
3. Mutable Family-these are the adaptive or changeable types-Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces. In this family, Pisces, for example, exhibits the metaphor of water as a calm lake.
Although these are changing because of the changing influence of the planets, you can use these modalities to better understand your persona/psyche/ego's nature and see how you have changed as the planet Earth upgrades into the fifth dimensional frequencies. You have known yourself in 3D. 3D is gone. How are you behaving now? Astrology can be an important tool to guide you in better understanding your changing nature.
Use this family concept only as a guide to better understand the influences of the planets on your behavior and understanding of what drives you and your general reactions and responses to both outer and inner stimuli. This is also a great grounding tool to better see the fluctuations of the persona/psyche/ego and it's ability to adapt. That adaptability is important to understanding and being able to handle these changing times, these stressful times.
