"Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher a storm, but to add color to my sunset sky." Rabindranath Tagore.
This great poet is expressing that he has changed how he "sees" the ups and downs that are natural to human living. For him, the difficulties that enter his domain do not cause dissonance, they add color to his experience, his life. He is enriched by difficulties.
I believe that it is the value we put into our experiences in life that give them the color signature that we remember. Experiences are neither good nor bad, they just are. We place a particular energy stamp on our experiences through how we choose to experience them. This is an important life lesson that I believe helps relieve human suffering in that it is truly up to each of us as to how we perceive a situation. If we always go to the place of self-pity in our experiences, always feeling sorry for ourselves, we play the victim and our lives attract more experiences in which to be a victim!
The Universe gives us what we are! May I encourage those of you who find yourself in this negative dynamic to resolve to develop a renewed perspective in which you always see yourself as a victor, not a victim. We cannot escape the ups and downs of human living. We can, however, change our response to events and not see them as "rain" or "storms." We can see them as teachings, guidance, understandings, life lessons moving us on a path of greater awareness, wisdom and enlightenment.
When you see living as a victorious experience, your thoughts, feelings, health and soul/spirit are victorious which is the state of grace known as nirvana.
You'll just feel good all the time or at least you'll be coming from that place of optimism, courage, perseverance and wisdom. It's better than living in doubt, fear and hesitation where all sickness comes from!!!
Become the colors of the rainbow, not the colors of the mud hole!
